Clara’s Introduction to Clay Tuesday afternoons 2-5pm

This is an 8 week introductory pottery class that will explore both handbuilding techniques as well as wheel throwing. We will start with handbuilding making pinch pots and learning to build with coils, then dive into throwing on the wheel and slab work for the later weeks of the course. 

You will be guided by example projects and demos, but will have the freedom to create whether that be sculptural, functional, or anything in between. You will learn the whole process of making an item from start to finish on the wheel. This includes wedging and centering the clay, throwing, trimming, and glazing. You will have the opportunity to throw on both an electric wheel and kick wheel. A 25 lb bag of clay is included with the cost of class, you can purchase more clay from the studio if you need. When enrolled in this class you are able to use the studio during Open Studio days on Saturday and Sunday from 9-1pm. Open studio time is for you to practice the skills you have learned in class, independently. No experience is necessary- all skill levels welcome!


Emily's Level 2 Wheel Class Tuesday Evenings 6-9pm

This is an 8 week upper level throwing class! I this class we will focus on throwing hollow forms, and larger items such as skinny-neck vases, and pitchers. We will build on previous knowledge and skills to create beautiful wheel-thrown forms. Must be able to center and throw 1.5 lbs of clay. You will have the opportunity to throw on both an electric wheel and kick wheel. You will learn basic glaze techniques such as how to apply glaze in different ways and utilize both bottled and dipping glazes we use here in the studio. A 25 lb bag of clay is included with the cost of class, you can purchase more clay from the studio if you need. When enrolled in this class you are able to use the studio during Open Studio days on Saturday and Sunday from 9-1pm. Open studio time is for you to practice the skills you have learned in class, independently. 


Sarah’s Afternoon Wheel Class Wednesdays 2-5pm

This is an 8 week introductory wheel throwing class that can be enjoyed by all levels. You will learn the whole process of making an item from start to finish on the wheel. You will have the opportunity to throw on both an electric wheel and kick wheel. Paisley’s Handbuilding Class Thursday afternoons 2-5pm

This is an 8 week introductory handbuilding course. You will learn the whole process of making an item from start to finish. This includes techniques like wedging, coil, pinch, extruder and slabs. You will have the opportunity to create functional items while only using hand building techniques. In this course we will make items such as mugs, vases, serving trays and plates. You will learn basic glaze techniques such as how to apply glaze in different ways and how to use underglaze. A 25 lb bag of clay is included with the cost of class. When enrolled in this class you are able to use the studio during Open Studio days on Saturdays from 9-1. Open studio time is for you to practice the skills you have learned in class, independently. No experience is necessary, and all skill levels welcome. Also a great class to repeat, as Paisley works with each student to offer new ideas each session.

Paisley’s Level 2: Intermediate Hand Building Pottery Course

Take your hand-building skills to the next level in this eight-week intermediate pottery course with artist Paisley Hanson. In this course, we will focus on refining and expanding your skills in coiling, pinching, and slab construction techniques. You will learn how to create more complex forms, experiment with different textures and patterns, and develop your own unique style. Preferred if students come with projects and ideas. Each class will be structured around demonstrations requested by students. A 25 lbs bag of clay is included, with the option to purchase more. Enrolled students may utilize the studio independently on weekends. A basic understanding of ceramics is required, with an intermediate level preferred.

Little Kids Clay Class (ages 5-8)

This is an 8 week ceramic course for children ages 5-8. This class offers young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity while experiencing the messy fun of clay. Guided by the teacher, students will learn the whole process of making forms from start to finish using various building techniques including wedging, coiling, pinching and stamping. Using decorative and colorful underglazes, glazes and mixed media will allow students to create unique and imaginative works of art to take home. No prior experience working with clay is necessary, all skill levels are welcome. Students may repeat this class to work on new and evolving projects. Clay and glaze are included. Come play at Mud City Clay!

Bigger Kids Clay Class (ages 9-13)

This is an 8 week ceramic course for children ages 9-13. This class offers young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity while experiencing everything clay. You will learn the whole process of making an item from start to finish. This includes techniques like wedging, coil, pinch, slab, as well as wheel work. You will have the opportunity to create nonfunctional and functional items while using both handbuilding and wheel techniques. You will learn basic glazing using both underglazes and glaze. No experience is necessary, all skill levels welcome and the instructor will meet the needs of each student at their level. Students may repeat this class as the projects are ever-evolving! Teens 16 and older are encouraged to sign up for adult classes.
