This is an 8 week introductory pottery class that will explore both handbuilding techniques as well as wheel throwing. We will start with handbuilding making pinch pots and learning to build with coils, then dive into throwing on the wheel and slab work for the later weeks of the course. 

You will be guided by example projects and demos, but will have the freedom to create whether that be sculptural, functional, or anything in between. You will learn the whole process of making an item from start to finish on the wheel. This includes wedging and centering the clay, throwing, trimming, and glazing. You will have the opportunity to throw on both an electric wheel and kick wheel. When enrolled in this class you are able to use the studio during Open Studio days on Saturday and Sunday from 9-1pm. Open studio time is for you to practice the skills you have learned in class, independently. No experience is necessary- all skill levels welcome! You may also repeat this course and Clara will skillfully meet your needs as you progress!
