KIDS POTTERY CLASSES

A girl with brown hair wearing a burgundy long-sleeve shirt working with clay at a craft studio, shaping it with a tool on a wooden table. The studio has large windows, brick walls, and shelves with art supplies in the background.
Three colorful ceramic figurines—a jar with a red chili on top, a penguin wearing a Santa hat, and an abstract blue sculpture—are arranged on a white surface, with a rectangular ceramic tile depicting a garden scene with flowers, a tree, and a blue river in front of them.

AGES 5-13

MudCity Clay is proud to offer clay experiences to children ages 5-13. Clay is such an impactful medium for young artists. A unique way to take their drawings and imaginative ideas into our three-dimensional world!

We teach these young clay enthusiasts all the foundational skills of working with clay in a professional studio—how to use wet clay, coil, pinch and use slab. We teach them about slipping and scoring clay together for a tight hold, the process of firing in the kiln, and then glazing before firing again. We have watched many students grow in skill and in age at our studio, and feel honored to be a part of their creative journey. All levels and interests are welcome and supported in our MudRoom classroom.

We take the safety of our students very seriously. All of our kids' pottery teachers have passed a state background check.

We accept EFA funds and have a functioning Class Wallet.

While we never want to discourage parents who are more comfortable remaining in the studio with their young child, we do acknowledge the limited physical space and the need for the instructor and students to engage in the medium and projects uninterrupted for the duration of class. This way the students get the full experience that the skilled instructor has planned and executed for their artistic endeavor.

6-WEEK SESSION

All of our 6-week sessions for kids include clay, access to all of our glazes, and firing of all your finished work.

While currently enrolled, students are also invited to participate in our Open Studio on Saturdays to independently practice the skills learned in class.

KIDS ART CAMP

We are so excited to offer our art summer camp again this year!

Combining both clay and art-making practices, students will spend time both inside and outside the studio MudRoom for creative play and exploration. We have four sessions running for ages 5-13.

OPEN STUDIO FOR

HOMESCHOOLERS

We offer an open studio class for homeschoolers ages 7-13 where students will learn the basic fundamentals of hand-building with clay in small groups. This class runs periodically throughout the year.

If you have a co-op, cohort, or homeschool group interested in creating their own 6-week session (minimum of 5 students), we’d be happy to set up a class. We accept EFA as payment for NH kids ages 5+.
