Clara has worked with clay off and on since middle school, but has been working very consistently for the past five years. She primarily throws on the wheel, with an ever-growing appreciation for hand-built work. Up until this year, she and her friend Leigh Cronin owned a ceramics business, Off Menu Pots. Leigh did all the surface design while Clara made all the pottery. Now that this business has closed, Clara is working to develop her own signature surface design for the pieces she makes. Clara has dreams of throwing huge multi-piece works, as well as aspirations to make tons of perfect tiny pieces. She is thankful to be able to work with clay so much of the day. On top of her dedication to her own learning and art, she teaches multiple classes a week at MudCity and is the Studio Manager.

My daughter and I are taking beginner pottery lessons and love it. Our instructor Clara demonstrates a technique and then let's us apply that to projects... we have been very happy.

I had the absolute best experience taking the 8-week clay class with Clara. She is such an incredible instructor and mentor. Throughout the course, it was so clear how much knowledge and experience she has, and she truly pours that into her students. Clara creates such a welcoming and encouraging environment, and she teaches you not just the technical skills of working with clay, but a whole new way to appreciate and love the process. I learned so much during the class! Her passion for ceramics is contagious, and it’s evident how much she genuinely cares about helping each student improve and find their own creative voice. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from her, and I’m already looking forward to taking another class and joining Clay-Plays with her in the future! Here are a couple of my favorite creations from my 8-weeks.
